Counterfeit Coupons

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Situation:

Unfortunately with the technology available there is a constant flow of counterfeit coupons in the industry.  This causes financial losses to both manufacturers and retailers.

For retailers, it is difficult to determine counterfeits and communicate the information to the employees at the registers.

Solutions:

Some tips on how to identify: Poor quality; Free High Value; Internet Print at Home; No or old Bar Codes; No Expiration.

RPR distributes Counterfeit Alerts to our retailer clients.  Retailers can also contact the Mfr. Agent; check CIC’s website, www.cents-off.com; fax a copy of the coupon to RPR to investigate.

ACP will provide Internet Posters that highlight best practices. Go to www.couponpros.org for John Morgan’s contact information.

Code 01 – Questionnaire Requested

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Situation:

When SEA and MRIS sign up new retailers we always ask for our Coupon Industry Questionnaire be completed.  We then submit it to CMS, NCH and P&G, notifying them of our new client.

If the information in the databases of CMS, NCH, and/or P&G differs from the information on the questionnaire, they need to contact the retailer directly and may send another questionnaire to be completed.

Until the information has been provided and verified, no coupons will be paid.

Solution:

The retailer must expedite completing the information required.  RPR would like to be notified on when the information was sent and have a copy faxed to our office.  We can then follow up and have any denied invoices paid.

Try to complete every question on the initial questionnaire you received from SEA or MRIS as missing information could also cause delays in payment.
